Successful Selling: Internal Metrics That Help Maximize Website Data

There are a variety of tactics dealership sales teams take in order to better understand their customer, how to approach them, and ultimately capture their attention to make the sale. Has your dealership thought about looking into its website metrics to help determine the answers to these three core things? It’s often a strategy overlooked, but here’s why it could be a huge asset.

Evaluating some key Google Analytics from your website could give your sales team a bit more insight into your buyer’s patterns of behavior. They can utilize this information to better appeal to the customer and understand quite literally where they’re coming from. Here are the three key metrics we suggest your sales team takes a look at.

Most Visited Page

Take a look at what the most popular page on your website is, or in other words the most trafficked page. Is it your dealership’s “About” page, “Locations” page, or “Contact” page for example? Think about what that says about the customer. If they’re looking at your “About” page, maybe they want to get an idea of your credibility and who your business is. If it’s the “Locations” page, you may have a wider net of potential buyers so then look at what location is being clicked on or contacted the most. If it’s your “Contact” page, then maybe your dealership already has a strong presence and is seeing a decent amount of repeat customers. It’s also an indicator to really push your salespeople’s contact information if they attend an event, meeting, etc.

Most Popular Inventory

This is a bit of a deeper dive into your popular pages mentioned above. If a visitor is coming to your website, it’s likely they’re looking for a piece of equipment or a truck. Understand what your customer base is looking for the most and how you can cater demand for these types of units. Evaluate what’s selling the most, what projects prospects are using it for and then how you can use this information to attract even more of these kinds of connections.

Traffic Sources

This is another great resource to use and see what other websites or platforms you’re getting the most traffic from. It will be a big indicator of where your efforts should be focused. For example, are you seeing a lot of visitors come from your social media channels? Consider reaching out to those that Like or Follow your pages to gauge their interest. You could even create some social media ads or boost posts (another form of social media advertising) so that you capture more prospects this way.

Google Analytics can be utilized by much more than just marketers! These valuable statistics can help make informed business decisions through a strengthened strategy and approach to sales.
