Here’s Why You Might Not Be Seeing Traffic from Google

If you’ve been monitoring your traffic from Google and aren’t seeing the results you expected, then it may be time to do a little digging into why that’s the case. We see dealers making some common mistakes in their online marketing that prevents them from earning the traffic they deserve, and we want to make sure you aren’t making the same faux pas! Here are some of the key issues we see in dealers’ websites that aren’t performing at their best when it comes to traffic.

“No Index” Setting

On the backend of the website a setting may be accidentally checked listing “No Index.” This is a big detriment to Google and other search engines listing your website in their search results. The “No index” setting essentially says that your website does not want to be found or listed within search engine results so definitely make sure you have this setting checked out!

Poor Navigation

You might not realize but having a poorly built navigation path on your website impacts how Google lists it in their search results. If it’s difficult for a user to to get around your website and has a confusing setup, it’s a mark against your business and results in a lower ranking on Google. So not only is it potentially preventing you from earning a new customer, it’s making it harder for search engines to crawl your website. This ultimately makes it it harder for customers to find your dealership online!

Blank Google Business Page

When people search for a business online, one of the first things they typically see on the right-hand side of the results page is the business’ company information listed, such as where it’s located, phone number, website, etc. If you haven’t filled this out and verified your business page, this could also be working against you. Have questions on how to go about doing this? Check out this article from Hubspot with a step-by-step guide.

Copycat Content

If the content you’re using on all of your pages is too similar or maybe pulled from another website, Google will also count this as a mark against you. It looks spammy to have the same information reiterated over and over on each page in the same phrasing. So invest the time to really go through the content of each of your website’s pages and look at whether it’s too similar, or even if it’s the exact wording from another website.

Sad SEO

If your website hasn’t been optimized for search engines, than this is one of your biggest mistakes! There are key ways and strategies to optimize your website so that it organically ranks higher in search engine results without having to pay for PPC advertising. This is normally a key part of building a new website, so if you haven’t heard it mentioned in a previous website build process, then you should definitely consider it!
