SEO Tips You Can Implement Right Now

As we’ve said time and time again, even though you may have a gorgeous and engaging website, if it’s not optimized to be found within the first page of search engine results, then you’re doing your dealership a disservice. Search Engine Optimization in particular is a great and organic way for you to get seen on the results pages of Google, Yahoo or Bing and doesn’t require any kind of ad spend.

As a refresher, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the “free” process of getting more website traffic through higher positioning in search engine results due to optimized website content.

So what are some ways that we do this for you or that we can work together to get you the most optimized website possible?

  • Create content on a regular basis – Search engines favor fresh content so if they see that your dealership is publishing content regularly, it helps your ranking. An easy way to do this is by starting a blog on your website. Posting on a weekly basis with relevant industry news, dealership updates, etc. is a simple and fun way to get new content on your website!
  • Connect content – Make sure you’re interlinking to pages across your website. This means doing things like linking to your Contact Page via a button on your inventory page. It could also mean linking to your Locations Page from your About Page. Directing your visitor to other pages on your website not only keeps them engaged and on your website longer, but also has value to search engines as well.
  • Use images – Don’t just name an image file something funny, upload it to your website and leave it as that. Include keywords in the file’s name that are relevant to your customer. You can also add keywords into a label called “alt text,” when uploading the image to your website. Also, consider including keywords in image captions and descriptions. So not only will this image technique help your SEO, but also the fact you’re using images on your website keeps users engaged and on your website longer, therefore contributing to your website’s authority within search engines as well.
  • Optimize website for mobile – Google, in particular, favors websites that are optimized for mobile by ranking them higher than those that aren’t.  We’ve seen many dealers with outdated websites. If you haven’t redesigned your website in a while, you could actually be hurting your business through its positioning within search engines.
